Low Stock Alerts
Low stock alerts are available on Standard and Pro plans.
Low stock alerts notify you when product inventory falls below a configured threshold, helping you reorder before running out.
How Alerts Work
Swift POS checks inventory levels against the low stock threshold at regular intervals:
- Every 5 minutes, the system checks stock levels for products at your current location
- Products with available quantity at or below the threshold trigger an alert
- An alert badge appears on the sidebar, showing the number of low-stock products
- Clicking the badge opens the alert panel with the full list
Alert Panel
The alert panel shows each low-stock product with:
- Product name and variant
- Current available quantity
- The configured threshold
- An Acknowledge button to dismiss the alert
Acknowledging an alert removes it from the list but does not change inventory. If the product is still below threshold at the next check, the alert will reappear.
Configuring the Threshold
The low stock threshold is set in General Settings:
- Go to Settings > General
- Find Low Stock Threshold
- Enter the quantity (e.g., 10)
- Save
The threshold applies to all products at all locations. Products with available quantity at or below this number will trigger alerts.
Set your threshold based on your typical reorder lead time. If it takes 3 days to restock and you sell 5 units per day, a threshold of 15 gives you a comfortable buffer.
Taking Action
When you see a low stock alert, you can:
- Adjust stock if you have unreported inventory
- Create a transfer from a location with surplus stock
- Create a purchase order to reorder from your supplier
- Check demand forecasting for reorder quantity suggestions
