Stock Tracking
Stock tracking gives you visibility into the inventory levels at your current POS location. It pulls data directly from Shopify, so what you see in the POS matches your Shopify admin.
Viewing Stock Levels
From the POS product grid, each product displays its available stock count. You can also access the full inventory view from the sidebar to see detailed quantities.
Quantity Types
For each product variant at your location, four quantities are tracked:
| Quantity | Description |
|---|---|
| Available | Stock that can be sold right now |
| On Hand | Total physical stock at the location |
| Committed | Reserved by existing unfulfilled orders |
| Incoming | Expected from pending transfers or purchase orders |
Stock Status Indicators
Products in the grid show visual indicators for their stock status:
- In stock -- available quantity is displayed
- Low stock -- quantity is below the configured threshold (amber indicator)
- Out of stock -- zero available quantity (red indicator)
- Not stocked -- inventory tracking is not enabled for this product at the current location
- Available at other locations -- out of stock here, but available elsewhere
If a product shows "Not stocked," it means inventory tracking is either disabled for that product in Shopify or the product is not stocked at your current location. Check Shopify admin to enable tracking.
Overselling
By default, Swift POS prevents selling items that are out of stock. However, the Allow Overselling setting (in General Settings) can override this behavior, permitting sales even when available quantity is zero.
Stock Updates
Stock levels are fetched when:
- The POS loads or refreshes
- A product is searched or scanned
- An order is placed (stock is decremented)
- The inventory page is opened
