Cash Register

info

The cash register is available on Starter, Standard, and Pro plans.

The cash register tracks all cash movement during a shift. It provides accountability for cash in the drawer and helps identify discrepancies at the end of the day.

Opening the Register

  1. Go to Cash Register in the sidebar
  2. Click Open Register
  3. Enter the opening float -- the starting cash amount in the drawer
  4. The register session begins and is tied to the current staff member and location

During the Shift

While the register is open, the following events are tracked automatically or manually:

Event TypeHow It Works
Cash salesAutomatically recorded when a cash payment is processed
Cash portion of split paymentsOnly the cash part is recorded
Pay InManual entry when cash is added to the drawer (e.g., change from the bank)
Pay OutManual entry when cash is removed (e.g., petty cash expense)

To record a pay in or pay out, click the respective button and enter the amount and a reason.

Closing the Register

  1. Click Close Register

  2. Enter the closing count -- the actual cash amount in the drawer

  3. The system calculates the expected cash:

Expected = Opening Float + Cash Sales + Pay Ins - Pay Outs

  4. The discrepancy (difference between expected and actual) is displayed

  5. Click Confirm to close the session

Register Summary

After closing, a summary is available showing:

  • Opening float
  • Total cash sales
  • Total pay ins and pay outs (with individual entries and reasons)
  • Expected closing amount
  • Actual closing count
  • Discrepancy (over or short)
caution

Only one register session can be open per staff member at a time. Close the current session before opening a new one.

Viewing Past Sessions

Past register sessions are visible to managers and admins. Each session shows the complete breakdown of events and the final discrepancy.
